Almost a month has passed since we attended the Great Western Fanfest in Visalia, California. My wife, Kathie, and myself hosted a Fun Bus with 34 people and it was a great experience. All of our favorite groups were there plus some we had not heard before. To name a few, The Booth Brothers, Greater Vision, Legacy Five, The Hoppers, The Collingsworth Family, and I could go on and on. If you have a chance to attend next years Fanfest I highly recommend taking the time to leave all your cares behind for a few days and enjoy the heavenly songs of Southern Gospels best.

The trip itself was long, two days on the bus and two days back. It was well worth the three days spent meeting and listening to the great talent that Southern Gospel provides. Once
there we stayed at the Holiday Inn. Some of the artists were at the same hotel. Visalia is a great place to walk around and see the old fashioned Main street and indulge in some of the best food around at the many restaurants within walking distance to the Convention Center where the Fanfest is held. Next years dates are April 25th to the 27th, 2013. Here is a link where you can go to for information and to sign up. I recommend signing up as soon as possible. If you missed it this year go to for many videos of the artists performances taken by our friend Ellen Gerig. She does a great job of capturing the moment.

Not much Southern Gospel action for April except for the Liberty Quartet concerts in the area. They were on the cruise earlier this year. Great guys to have around. We ran into them on the way home from Visalia at Chili's in Sacramento. The concert at Beaverton Village Baptist Church was well attended and they really blessed us with their Love of God through music.

Looking forward to the rest of the year, some great groups heading our way. Tickets are selling great for The Booth Brothers concert at Vancouver Church of God on June 14th. No Meet and Greet this year but the Artists Circle tickets are selling like hotcakes. Get your tickets as soon as possible, not much time left to send them out by mail. We will take Will Call orders for paid tickets only, the check must be here by June 13th. Send check with no extra fees to Gary Hagan, 16314 NE 13th St, Vancouver WA 98684. General Admission price is $20 in advance and $22 at the door. Artist Circle Special Seating price is $27 per ticket. No Artist Circle tickets will be sold at the door. Get a group together and buy 10 tickets and you will get 2 more tickets free! Remember to add either .50 cents for postage or a STAMPED self addressed envelope.

The Nelons, Gaither Homecoming Artists, will be here at Portland Christian Center on July 16th. No ticket required for this event but a Love Offering will be taken. They will be singing at other venues around the area before they board the boat for the cruise with the Gaither Homecoming Friends. The
Gaither Homecoming concert scheduled for Portland is canceled so this will be your only chance to see any of the Gaither friends. They have a great story to tell about Amber trying out for American Idol and rejected because she was too Christian. Check the Concert page on our website to see their other venues and which would be closest to you.

August looks like a lean month for Southern Gospel fans in our area. Nothing that I know of scheduled for nationally known artists coming our way. Check the Pacific Gospel Music Association website for local group schedules at:

September will be bringing us two groups in the same week. September 25th will be Beyond The Ashes. We had dinner each night this year on the Mexican Riviera cruise and enjoyed them very much. They really have a heart for God and boy can they sing. We know you will enjoy this group. Come out and hear them even if you haven't heard much about them. They had a Dove award nomination this year for Best New Group so that tells you the quality of their harmony. In fact we try to only book groups that are quality groups. So be sure if a group is listed on our website you won't be disappointed when you come out to hear them. If you like The Booth Brothers you will like Beyond The Ashes.

The next group that same week, September 27th will be The Needhams. They have been around for a long time and like the Crist Family, The Collingsworth Family and others, they are an all family group. They do a mixture of Southern Gospel and Bluegrass. If you like the Isaacs you will love The Needhams. Instruments galore.

Nothing scheduled so far in October but keep checking the website: for changes. November brings back Legacy Five. The venue is not secured as of this writing but they will be here November 14th. We will send out an announcement when we know where the concert will be. Everybody loves Scott Fowler and the gang so be sure and mark your calendars for this and all the other concerts listed on the concert page.

Be sure and check out the other Southern Gospel opportunities that are mentioned on our home page. The Liberty Quartet Northwest Gospelfest in Idaho coming in September. And a new Gospel Music Festival in Phoenix next year the end of February and first part of March, 2013. Until next time, thanks for checking out our BLOG and Concerts, Blessings, see you at The Booth Brothers concert!!
